The first major project by Giving is Living.

On March 16th 2019, We hosted our first Annual Charity Art Auction called Pieces for Paws which took place at Atlantic Beach Country Club in Melkbosstrand. The Event was in aid of three Animal Welfare Organisations: Mdzananda Animal Clinic, Wolowerivier Outreach Work and SANCCOB.

We had 80 pieces of art and sculptures which were donated by over 60 local & international artists. We were lucky enough to have Russell Fox- Magician Insane do a 30 minute performance for the guests before the Auction commenced with Auctioneer and Come Dine With Me SA Host- Joey Burke.

The event was a great success and we managed to raise just over R200,000 for the 3 selected charities.

Thank you to all the artists who donated their work, the sponsors who helped make the event possible, the guests and buyers who purchased the art and to all the members involved in helping us organise and undertake such a big project.

The Lead up to Pieces for Paws

The theme of this auction was to create art from trash. Children from the Wolwerivier and Khayelitsha Townships made art with rubbish they collect within their community. Workshops were organised within the townships to assist the children ensuring that those not artistically inclined could be involved as well.

This gave the children the opportunity to learn about the importance of keeping their environment clean, whilst getting them interested in art. As well as this, the project was incentivised. All the children that participate in this project were rewarded with a glass bottom boat trip trip to Seal Island with Circe Launches.

The pieces of art that the children created were auctioned off at the Event.The proceeds will go back into the community and used to help the animals and pets, through the two organisations Wolwerivier Outreach Work and Mdzananda Animal Clinic.
